Red Ball (U7) Academy

This program introduces the foundational skills of tennis with an oversized low-compression ball on a smaller court. Players learn basic rally, serve and net play skills along with activities that build tennis specific coordination. Rules of play and “I am a Good Sport” behaviours are also introduced. Players must commit to at least two lessons per week.

2017/18 session: Sep 5, 2017 - June 29, 2018 (1 week break over Christmas, 1 week break in March)

Sat: 9-10am

Orange Ball (U9) Academy

This program is played on a ¾ size court with a low-compression ball. Players learn how to serve, rally, score and play at the net. “I am a Good Sport” behaviours are reinforced. Players learn to maintain a rally when receiving more challenging shots, serve with improved placement, approach the net, and place volleys. Players must commit to at least two lessons per week.

U10/U12 Academy

This program is designed to develop young, promising players looking to compete against the best players in Nova Scotia and Atlantic Canada. Players develop an understanding and love of competing and learn to effectively manage mistakes in a positive manner. Players exhibit emotional control and display good sportsmanship being cooperative with practice partners. Players demonstrate concentration in an effort to put every ball into the court. These sessions should be complimentary to weekend matchplay, tournaments, and other sports. Players at this level of development should aim for 10-12 hours on court per week.

U14/U16 Academy

This program is designed to consolidate players competing against the best players in Atlantic Canada and nationally. Players acquire the skills to control the pace of the match and become resourceful in competitive situations. Players develop a 'no excuse' style, always trying to find a way to be competitive mentally. Players display positive self-talk, belief thinking and body language. These sessions should be complimentary to weekend matchplay, physical training, tournaments, and other sports. Players at this level of development should aim for 12-14 hours on court per week.

U18 Academy 

This program is designed to integrate the performance factors to enable players to perform consistently at major Atlantic, National and International events. Players develop an identity as a 'tennis player' and display an intrinsic desire to train and compete. Players demonstrate the conviction to execute the correct shot under pressure. Players become responsible and independent by demonstrating some self reliance in areas such as time management, attention to good nutrition, hydration and recovery, and being ready for training and competition. These sessions should be complimentary to weekend matchplay, physical training, tournaments, and other sports. Players at this level of development should aim for 18-20 hours on court per week.
